United States Weather

Colorado ranks seventh in size, with an area over 104,200 square miles. The surface of the state is naturally divided into three parts. The eastern part consists of the Great Plains extending from the eastern boundary to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. This offers the fellow hunter a very large area to hunt in. The Colorado hunting guides and outfitters listed should be able to help you plan your next trip.

Colorado climate are very confusing to Eastern people. This is due to varying elevations, to the presence or absence of moisture in the different parts of the state, and to the remoteness of or proximity to higher mountains. United States authorities divide the state into five zones of temperatures. In these zones the annual average temperature varies from 35 degrees or less in the high altitude to 50 degrees or higher in the Arkansas valley and in the protected valleys of the mountains.

The climate is healthful, dry and invigoration. In all parts of the state there is an abundance of sunshine; in an average year there are at least 300 clear days. Fog in Colorado only occurs about once a year in the western part of the state, about three times a year in the eastern foothills and somewhat more frequently in the eastern portion of the state. The summer sun is frequently very hot, but prostration from heat is practically unknown. The state offers much to a hunter and should be taken advantage of on your next trip.

Each guide and outfitter can give you additional information about specific small game and big game animals hunting in their area, along with what the weather is for their part of the state.
