The state has a semi-tropical climate and abundance of rain and an average temperature of about 68 degrees, with over 48,000 square miles of land area. Although the climate of Louisiana is due to the nearness of the Gulf, the intense heat is modified and the climate is equable. The average temperature is about 68 degrees in the southern part. And about 65 degrees in the northern, while in the summer the thermometer may rise as high as 100 degrees. The coldest weather usually is in February, and frosts occur from the first of November until the first of March. The average rainfall is 60 inches in the southern half and about 50 inches in the northern section.

Louisiana is one of the lowest and most level states in the Union. It also has more navigable water then any other state. The highest land consists of ridges, which cross the central northern parishes and nowhere exceed 500 feet in altitude. The state offers much to a hunter and should be taken advantage of on your next trip.
