United States Weather

Illinois, the “Prairie State” is in the very heartland of America. The state lies within the Great Central Plain. The climate can range from over 100 degrees in the summer to subzero temperatures for brief periods of time in the winter, because of the winds from Canada. The state has over 56,000 square miles and has plenty of room to hunt in many different areas. The Illinois hunting guides and outfitters listed should be able to help you plan your next trip.

The temperature in the extreme south of Illinois averages 11 degrees warmer than in the extreme north. Throughout the state sudden and drastic temperature changes occur. Warm winds from the Gulf often drive the mercury over 100 degrees in summer, and in winter cold winds from Canada bring sub-zero weather. Such extremes are of brief durations, however, and in the northeast Lake Michigan exert a moderating influence on the climate.

Illinois is bounded by Wisconsin on the north, Indiana on the east, Kentucky on the south, and Iowa and Missouri on the west. Lake Michigan lies to the northeast of the state. The state lies within the Great Central Plain, although there is plenty of wooded area for the average guide or outfitter to find good game. The state offers much to a hunter and should be taken advantage of on your next trip.

Each guide and outfitter can give you additional information about specific small game and big game animals hunting in their area, along with what the weather is for their part of the state.
