Composed of two former territories; Oklahoma and Indian Territory, which were united by congress when the state was formed. Six other states surround its borders, New Mexico on the south, and Texas forms its southern boundary and Colorado and Kansas adjoin it on the north; on the east by Missouri and Arkansas.

In the central part of the main plateau, those portions are occupied by the Cherokee and Creek nations; there is a large section of open prairie country. The south-central part of the state is very heavily wooded and is a great place for hunting. From the central part of Oklahoma westward, the surface consists almost wholly of rolling plateaus. The state offers much to a hunter and should be taken advantage of on your next trip.
