United States Weather

Tennessee, the “Volunteer State” offers much in wildlife along with the lay of the land, from rolling woodland areas to the Great Smoky Mountains. The climate is mild in both summer and winter. The state has over 42,000 square miles of land, which is more then enough for Tennessee hunting guides or outfitters.

Kentucky and Virginia border Tennessee on the north and by Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi on the south. North Carolina lies to the east, and Arkansas and Missouri to the west. The eastern boundary is crossed by the Great Smoky Mountains, which are so called because of the bluish haze, which hovers over them.

Except in the mountains, Tennessee has a mild and equable climate, with an average January temperature of 39 degrees, and a July average of 79 degrees. The heaviest rains occur in early spring, when floods threaten on the Mississippi and its tributaries. The annual precipitation averages 47 inches. The hot, humid summers have given parts of western part of the state a subtropical climate. The state offers much to a hunter and should be taken advantage of on your next trip.

Each guide and outfitter can give you additional information about specific small game and big game animals hunting in their area, along with what the weather is for their part of the state.
